Cork GAA appoints first full-time CFO
Cork GAA has confirmed Rosscarbery man Denis Calnan as its first full-time CFO.
He has a long association with the GAA, having served his Carbery Rangers club as President, PRO and currently as Treasurer.
Mr. Calnan (50) will be responsible for financial management, control and treasury in all aspects of Cork GAA.
He is a Chartered Accountant with experience in a variety of different industries including the renewable energy sector, the private sector and multinational organizations such as Kerry Group and EY.
He has a proven track record in financial management, control and reporting, having served as financial controller at GP Wood and project manager on a number of renewable energy projects.
The nomination process was overseen by Chairman of the Board Marc Sheahan, Treasurer Diarmuid Gowen, Ger Lyons (Audit and Risk), Michelle McAleer (Croke Park) and CEO Kevin O’Donovan.
He will report to the CEO and Cork GAA says this will allow Cork GAA to maximize business opportunities while providing financial stability and creating a future sustainable organization.
Marc Sheahan said: “We are delighted that someone of Denis Calnan’s caliber and experience is joining the Cork GAA team. He went through a rigorous maintenance process and we are very fortunate to have obtained his services.
CEO Kevin O’Donovan added: “This is another step in the right direction in the stabilization and future expansion of the financial and business functions of Cork GAA. The operations of Uí Chaoimh, as well as One Cork, Rebels’ Bounty and many other initiatives. “
Cork GAA plans to appoint a commercial director in the coming months.
