We have reviewed and reorganized the Finance department to ensure it has the capacity and leadership to deliver the excellent service that is needed and expected to achieve the future ambitions of the Council. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting the provision of high level financial advice, guidance and support to the Children and Youth Directorate.
The role will support the Chief Financial Officer in the implementation of work programs jointly defined by the Strategic Director of Children and Youth Services and the Strategic Director – Finance and Client Services in the implementation of strategies financial resources to support the transformation underway within management.

This position is classified as “politically restricted” under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended). Full details of the restrictions are set out in the statutory instrument, but overall the restrictions prohibit candidacy for elected public office; hold a position in a political party; as well as participation in political activities such as canvassing or public speaking / writing.
From April 1, 2017 to March 31, 2022, employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay cut of 1.15% staggered through weekly / monthly deduction (depending on pay frequency) of each pay period over the entire fiscal year. In recognition of the implementation of this temporary measure, those suffering a pay cut will be granted three additional days of leave (pro rata for part-time).
