The role
Strategic:
• Participate in the development of the organization’s strategy and business plan
• Oversee the development and implementation of the organization’s financial strategy
• Champion the development of financial policies and procedures for the organization with proper consideration and ensure compliance
• Oversee all financial planning, budgeting, treasury and investor relations activities of the organization
• Monitor overall operating and capital expenditures and provide strategic direction to control costs
• Determine capital structure and provide recommendations for its review based on changing business needs. Securing long-term financing for operations and establishing links with local and international financial institutions
• Represent the organization with external regulators and government agencies regarding finance-related queries as well as advocate and defend the interests of the company.
Operational:
• Establish and oversee the implementation of all financial procedures and internal controls to ensure all activities are well defined and regulated
• Use financial instruments appropriately to hedge costly risk exposures
• Oversee the annual budget process and its consolidation to develop the overall budget
• Oversee support functions for business units including budgeting, accounts payable and receivable, cash management and payroll
• Procure and liaise with internal audit team to assist with financial audits. Oversee the implementation of financial audit recommendations
• Communicate financial performance and forecasts internally and to shareholders
• Oversee the management and coordination of all tax reporting activities for the company, including: organizational income/expense and balance sheet reporting, reporting to relevant entities, developing and monitoring corporate budgets. ‘company
• Coordinate the timely preparation of the organization and financial statements according to the frequency of reports, ensuring that the statements reflect the financial position of the organization and comply with legal and regulatory requirements
• Oversee the provision of timely, accurate and relevant financial information for strategic decision making
• Periodically review performance reports and highlight them, as needed, to senior management suggesting possible actions to ensure strategic business objectives are met
• Oversee treasury and investment activities (short-term investments of 3-6 months), manage cash flow and ensure liquidity of company operations
• Apply corporate governance policies and ensure compliance with the authorities’ financial manual in the company’s financial decision-making processes
• Develop a delegation of authority framework on financial matters, i.e. develop, administer and manage the financial authority manual
• Perform any other work-related duties assigned by the General Manager
People:
• Ensure effective communication of company information to department employees, including relevant policies and procedures
• Ensure compliance with the performance management process and its links to learning and development, compensation, promotion, professional development and succession planning. This is done in full collaboration with the human resources department
• Coach and coach direct reports to develop their skills and ensure the continuous development of people

Terms
Degree in finance, accounting or related discipline
• A graduate degree such as MSc, MBA, PGD in a relevant discipline will be an advantage
• Professional certification from relevant institutions such as ACCA, CIMA, CFA will be an added advantage
• More than 6 years of relevant experience with at least 4 years in senior management
